Benghazi— A High-level Belarussian delegation arrived in Benghazi Saturday aiming to reactivate bilateral cooperation and partnership in the field of industry and minerals. This followed the opening of the Belarusian Consulate in Benghazi.
The Belarussian delegation, headed by Minsk’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Vadim Ipatov and Deputy PM Viktor Karankevic, was welcome by the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament Agila Saleh and PM Osama Hammad at the Parliament’s headquarters in Benghazi.
Also on Sunday, an expanded meeting was held at the Libyan Ministry of Industry between the Belarusian delegation and a number of Libyan ministers which focused on speeding up through “appropriate mechanisms the implementation of memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries last March in Benghazi,” according to a statement by the Benghazi government.
The discussions covered a number of vital sectors, including agriculture, industry, and education, in addition to geological exploration services and the mining industry, healthcare, including medicines and medical equipment, training of doctors and medical personnel, cooperation in natural disaster prevention, and other areas that enhance the partnership between the two countries.
The Belarusian delegation included the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Agriculture, the Minister of Industry, the Minister of Health, and the Chairman of the Food Industry Authority of the Republic of Belarus.
