Moscow— The Libyan National Security Adviser, Ibrahim Abu Shnaf, had attended the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues (IMHRSI) that took place in Moscow, Russia from May 27 to 29, at the “Rossiya” National Center.

The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu officially invited Mr. Abu Shnaf to the IMHRSI, according to the Libya News Agency. During his stay in Moscow, Abu Shnaf held meetings with a number of his counterparts from the participating countries.

The conference featured a speech delivered via videoconference by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the opening session, while the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took part in it.

In his speech, the Russian President praised the participation of security and intelligence agencies from the countries of the East and the Global South, which he considered to represent the largest part of the global security architecture.

Mr. Shoigu chaired the conference, which was attended by 126 delegations from 105 countries including member from BRICS, SCO, ASEAN, CIS, CELAC, the African Union, the CSTO and other international organizations, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

A Russia official told Sputnik that Moscow also sent invitations to the United States and a number of “unfriendly” states to the IMHRSI, but it is not known if any delegations from the US had actually attended.

Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of the three-day meeting, Sergey Shoigu said “the high level of participants and the sheer number of participating countries clearly showed the urgency and the demand for holding such events and dispelled the myth of Russia’s isolation this time again.”
