Benghazi— The Parliament-appointed government has decided to exempt Belarusian citizens from entry visas and residence fees imposed on foreigners in Libya.
The government, whose headquarters in Benghazi and headed by PM Osama Hammad, indicated in Resolution No. 74 of 2025 that it had taken this measure “in accordance with the principle of reciprocity in Libyan and international laws and norms, aiming at strengthening bilateral relations between Libya and Belarus.”
On Saturday, a high-level delegation visited Benghazi to attend the opening on Sunday of the Belarusian consulate in the city.
The, headed by Minsk’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Vadim Ipatov and Deputy PM Viktor Karankevic, was welcome by the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament Agila Saleh and PM Osama Hammad at the Parliament’s headquarters in Benghazi.
The Belarusian delegation also took part in the celebration of the 11th anniversary of the “Dignity Operation” of the Libyan National Army. In 2014, Filed Marshal Khalifa Haftar was entrusted by the majority of the Benghazi population to lead the remnants of the LNA to combat terrorists in the city and bring an end to chaos and instability.
Also on Sunday, an expanded meeting was held at the Libyan Ministry of Industry between the Belarusian delegation and a number of Libyan ministers which focused on speeding up through “appropriate mechanisms the implementation of memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries last March in Benghazi,” according to a statement by the Benghazi government.
