Benghazi— Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov arrived in Benghazi on Friday evening on an official visit to the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA).
This visit comes in the context of strengthening military and security cooperation between Libya and Russia, amid regional and international developments that require joint coordination between the two countries.
The visit is expected to include meetings with the Commander-in-Chief of the LNA, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, to discuss issues of common interest.
Yevkurov was received upon arrival by the Secretary-General of the General Command, Lieutenant General Khairi Al-Tamimi, the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aganin and a number of military officials.
Yevkurov shared the Ramadan atmosphere with Libyans, as he performed Friday prayers in a mosque in Benghazi among the worshipers.
