Tripoli— The head of the General Authority for Communications and Informatics (GACI) Abdulbaset Albaour is expected to attend the upcoming AI-Forward Summit 2025, which will take place in Tunis, Tunisia from 30 November to 3 December 2025.

Mr. Albaour was officially invited to the AI-Forward Summit 2025 by the Director General of the Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technologies (AICTO), Mr. Mohamed Bin Omar, during a visit to Tripoli in mid-November. The summit is organized by the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies in partnership with the AICTO.

Under the theme “From Information Society Towards Intelligence Society,” the Tunis summit will review and evaluate efforts during the past twenty years focusing on harnessing information and communication technology and its use in sustainable development, as well as promoting good governance and digital development in the Arab region.

The AI-Forward Summit 25 comes in the aftermath of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 which took place in Geneva in July of this year. The WSIS+20 centered on the existing UN process on digital governance and cooperation with a vision of fostering people-centered, inclusive, and development-oriented information and knowledge societies.

According to the AI-Forward Summit 25’s official website, the ministerial panel will “reflect on the outcomes of WSIS+20, share national and regional/ global perspectives, and explore inclusive and collaborative pathways to advance the information society and sustainable digital development, with particular attention to the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence.”

This high-level panel will conclude with the Tunis declaration about the WSIS: “Advancing the Transition from the Information Society to the Intelligent Society,” it said.

Meanwhile, the League of Arab States will present the unified regional approach to Artificial Intelligence. This will include the strategic objectives of the Arab AI Initiative, the Arab AI Strategy and its institutional frameworks and the principles embedded in the Arab AI Ethical Charter among other topics.

Participants will gain critical insights into how the League of Arab States is unifying the efforts of ecosystem players (policymakers, regulators, industry, regional organizations, and academia) to create an inclusive, ethical, and competitive Arab Intelligence Society.”
